The Art of Mort Künstler / The American Spirit / The Modern Era

Here you will find a pictorial chronicle of the drama and excitement of American History. These paintings give the viewer an insight into the tumultuous life of this young nation that mere words cannot achieve.

War on Terrorism

On October 13, 1977, four members of the terrorist organization, Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, hijacked a Lufthansa 737 containing 86 passengers and 5 crew. The hijackers demanded the release of 10 terrorists being held in West German jails and 2 Palestinians being held in Turkish jails. They also demanded a $15 million ransom. After the pilot was murdered, the plane landed at Mogadishu Airport in Somalia. On October 18th, two members of the British elite anti-terrorist Special Air Services and a 26 member German unit stormed the airplane successfully. One terrorist survived and all of the hostages were rescued.
