This Day in History
Morning Mist

On a day like today in the 1820’s...

The legendary Mountain Men of the Wild West originated from a group of young fur trappers employed in 1822 by traders in St. Louis. Because the best beaver pelts were found in the Rocky Mountains, they trapped there in the icy streams during the winter, often alone. In late spring, they emerged with their pelts, ready for trading at the annual Rendezvous.
