Patty Hearst, 1975


Patty Hearst Captured
September 22, 1975

In 1974, Patty Hearst, a 19 year-old newspaper heiress, was kidnapped by a band of radicals known as the Symbionese Liberation Army. After spending weeks locked in a closet and presumably brainwashed, Hearst, now going by the name “Tania”, was seen helping her kidnappers rob a bank. On September 22, 1975, Hearst was captured and arrested for robbery. She served two years of her seven year sentence.
