On a day like today in the 1870’s...

After three centuries of adaptation, by the end of the Civil War Longhorn cattle filled the grasslands and plains of Texas. To get these cattle to markets in the North, Texas ranchers had to drive them overland to railroads in Missouri or Kansas.
