On a day like today in the 1850’s…

Women worked hard to maintain the homes on wheels in which the overlanders traveled, and they looked forward to a few minutes of recreation during the daily “noonings” when the wagon trains halted to rest and water the teams. Most trains traveled in the spring and summer when wildflowers carpeted the immense plains.
