B-52 Goes Into Production
March 1, 1951

On March 1, 1951, Thomas Fanletter, Secretary of the Air Force, announced the go ahead for the production of the B-52. As seen in this painting, taking off from Ramey Air Force Base in Puerto Rico in 1956, the B-52 has proven, over a long period of time, to be one of the most dependable aircraft ever built.
