The Stolen Kiss

...Mort Künstler did this illustration for Reach for Tomorrow, written by Barbara Paul. It appeared in the August 1975 issue of Good Housekeeping magazine.

In those days, Good Housekeeping was still publishing fiction. The original oil painting was shown in the first one-man exhibition ever of Künstler’s work. It was called Mort Künstler: Master Illustrator and was held at the Daytona Beach Museum of Arts and Sciences. The show opened on January 13, 1977. Twenty years later, the figures in this painting served as inspiration for the main figures in the very popular Civil War painting by Künstler, Moonlight and Magnolias.
