General Lee in Hagerstown

The army was passing through Hagerstown, Maryland. A woman standing by the roadside and defiantly waving an American flag saw Lee on Traveller and was overcome by the sight of the handsome commander. “Oh,” she exclaimed, “I wish he was ours!”
