Künstler Receives Jefferson Davis Award
|
(Asheville, N.C.) Mort Künstler and film-maker
Ron Maxwell have jointly received the prestigious 2003 Jefferson
Davis Southern Heritage Award from the Military Order of
the Stars and Bars, which is composed of descendants of
the Southern officers corps in the Civil War. The awards
are given out in three categories: art, theatre and music.
Mr. Künstler was cited for his historic art portrayals of
Southern leaders and landscapes. Mr. Maxwell earned the
award for his achievement as director of the motion picture
Gods and Generals. Mr. Künstler was selected to serve
as the official artist for the film, which was acclaimed
for its historic accuracy. The two recipients, seen here
with their awards, were honored at the annual convention
of the MOSB, which convened in Asheville, North Carolina
on August 2, 2003.
