Marines Land and Attack from Helicopters




On September 21, 1951, deep mass transportation of combat troops to the battlefront by helicopter took place for the first time. In a ten-day experimental mission, 228 Marines were landed on a hilltop in central Korea. It took four hours. Conventional means would have taken two days.
