Historical Information

The winter of 1950-51 saw some of the cruelest warfare in American history–a treacherous terrain and a ferocious enemy equipped with Russian–made tanks and planes. In addition, the winter cold proved just as deadly as the North Koreans. The American soldiers suffered from frozen rations, frostbite, malfunctioning weapons, dangerous icy terrain, and insufficient cold weather gear.
