Airborne Troops Land in Normandy

World War II Airborne Troops Land in Normandy
June 6, 1944

Delayed 24 hours by bad Channel weather, the invasion of Normandy began before dawn on June 6th with units of the US 82nd and 101st Airborne, under the command of Lt. General Omar Bradley, making night landings near the town of Sainte-Mére-Eglise. This painting is a fairly accurate portrayal of the results.
